ABOUT THE SHOW

A humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1930s through to the early 1960s, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist, Dr Frank-N-Furter, unveiling his new creation, Rocky, a sort of Frankenstein-style monster in the form of an artificially made, fully grown, physically perfect muscle man complete “with blond hair and a tan”.

PERFORMANCE DATES and LOCATION

May 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, and 24, 2024 at 8pm May 12, 19 and 25, 2024 at 2pm

Additional performances may be added on May 11 (2pm), 15 (8pm), 18 (2pm) and/or 22(8pm). Extra shows being added will be confirmed by April 9th at the latest.

Cast members must be available for ALL performances.

Venue: Scarborough Village Theatre, 3600 Kingston Rd (NE corner of Kingston and Markham)

SMT’s Unit, The Estate — 51 Estate Drive, Scarborough, ON. The entrance is not visible from the street but is directly across the street from the entrance to the Holiday Inn.

REHEARSAL DATES

Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, February 25 and

Sundays 12:00 to 6:00 pm

Mondays and Wednesdays 7:00 to 10:30 pm

Additional or longer rehearsals will be held once the production has moved to the theatre. Rehearsals at the theatre are as follows (dates/times may be adjusted):

Sitzprobe: Date and time to be announced

Move-in: April 28, 20249:00am – 9:00pm

Sound Rehearsal: May 1, 2024  from 6:30 – 11:00 pm

Q2Q Technical Rehearsal: May 5, 2024  10:00 am – 10:00 pm

Technical Dress Rehearsal: May 6, 2024 6:30 – 11:00 pm

Dress Rehearsal with Orchestra: May 7, 2024  6:30 – 11:00 pm

Final Dress Rehearsal with Orchestra: May 8, 2024 6:30 – 11:00 pm

Post Show Unit Clean Up: June 1, 2024 – 10:00am – 4:00pm

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

No monologue required but you may be redirected on the song. Know it well.

Online Form

Once you book an audition you will be sent a link to our online audition form. Please make sure to fill this out as soon as possible. As part of the form, you will be asked to provide a full list of conflicts. Be as thorough as you can, especially around the Easter, Passover and Ramadan holidays. 

The information provided will be used when creating the rehearsal schedule. Adding more or significant conflicts after casting may result in removal from the show.

Casting Notes

This is your time to show us your weird, leave nothing on the table during your auditions and possible callbacks.  Remember that everyone in Frank’s mansion is odd and unusual, and we want to see it.  Many of the characters’ ages are flexible.  We will be looking for character actors who fit the “weird” and can sing the roles. Please note that for many characters costuming will include corsets, fishnets and briefs. All roles are open to consideration regardless of background, ethnicity or sexual/gender orientation.

Roles Available

Rocky Horror

Frank’s beloved creation, Rocky is supposed to be the “perfect man”. Must be very fit. This role will require a state of undress, such as appearing in undergarments (to be negotiated to individual comfort level), but will not contain nudity.

Age 18-40 Gender Male Physicality Codes C, E, F, K, SI Vocal Range Tenor, A3-G4 – vocal range may be lowered.
