Like the sailors on 24 hour leave in the Broadway classic ON THE TOWN, SMTers are often out and about performing with other theatre groups. SPEAKING IN TONGUES – THEATRE AURORA

Jason Silzer (Director of Children of Eden and Spamalot) directs this twisted Australian drama about Nine parallel lives - interlocked by four infidelities, one missing person and a mysterious stiletto - are interwoven through a fragmented series of confessionals and interrogations that gradually reveal a darker side of human nature. The show runs March 2-11, 2017 at Theatre Aurora.

??? - CONFIDENTIAL MUSICAL THEATRE PROJECT JUNIOR

Jarrod Schroll (Tommy Djilias in The Music Man) will once again tackle the CMTP challenge: With no rehearsals, the cast and crew meet for the first time one hour before the performance begins. The audience shows up with no knowledge of what show they're about to see. He’s a brave boy. If you’d like to see what the show go to the Alumnae Theatre, 70 Berkeley Street on March 5th at 2pm. PROOF – THEATRE UNBLOCKED

New SMTer Carina Cojeen (Ensemble in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) is producing Proof by David Auburn, and Chris Peterson (Michael in Alone Together) will be playing Hal, the love interest to the lead - a young female mathematician. The show runs March 9 -19, 2017 at the Red Sandcastle Theatre, 922 Queen St. East (at Logan).

TARTUFFE – SCARBOROUGH THEATRE GUILD

Clive Lacey (Senex in Forum) takes on the title role of Tartuffe in this Moliere classic. Also featured are Georgia Grant(Eve/Mama Noah in Children of Eden) as Mme Pernelle and Kerrie Lamb (Majorie May in Gypsy) as Dorine. The show runs March 10 – 25 at Scarborough Village Theatre.

OKLAHOMA – CITY CENTRE MUSICAL PRODUCTION

Matthew Butler (Henry in Damn Yankees and Ewart Dunlop in The Music Man) takes on the role of Curly and Bobbie Flatt (Mame in Mame) joins the ensemble in this Rogers & Hammerstein classic. The show runs March 17 – 26 at the Meadowvale Theatre.

EVITA – JDP THEATRE PRODUCTIONS

Nicole Burda (Amaryllis is The Music Man) and Isla Parekh (Princess Ying Yaowafak in The King and I) join the children’s ensemble and Jamie Higgins (Ensemble in The King and I) is also featured in this Andrew Lloyd Webber classic. The show is directed by Jacqui Burke (Director for The King and I, Guys & Dolls). The show runs March 17 – 28 at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, 5040 Yonge Street, Toronto.

Michael Yaneff (Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd, Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie) plays the Baker and Mandy McDermott (Royal Wife in The King and I) plays Cinderella’s Stepmother in this Stephen Sondheim fantasy classic musical. The show runs March 23 – April 9, 2017 at the Stephen Leacock Theatre.

Michael Yaneff (Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd, Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie) directs and Lauren Lazar (Alma Hix in Music Man, Julie Jordan in Carousel) music directs this Canadian musical within a comedy. The show runs in February 2018 at the Uxbridge Musical Hall.

ZUMBA – THE MOVE STUDIO

Tamara Stokoe-Said (Lola in Damn Yankees, Anita in West Side Story) not only loves to dance onstage but she brings her moves to her fitness studio, The Move Studio in Newmarket. Tamara is a Zumba Education Specialist who travels all across Canada training Zumba instructors. She also teaches Zumba classes at the studio. So if you’d like to move like Lola check it out.

REEL SCHOOL - YOUTUBE

Michael Winn Johnson (Miles Gloriosus in Forum) hosts Reel School where he delves a little deeper into themes and motifs of recent cinema with a variety of videos including movie reviews, tutorials about film theory and history, Reel School Countdowns and Celebrity interviews. He has interviewed stars such as Bruce Campbell, William Shatner, Scott Bakula, Amy Acker, Amber Benson, and many more, and some of Reel School's tutorials have even been included in the curriculum at Baker University, the oldest University in Kansas.
