SMTers On The Town

Like the sailors on 24 hour leave in the Broadway classic ON THE TOWN, SMTers are often out and about performing with other theatre groups. On this page we try to keep up with as many of our alumni as we can who are performing elsewhere. If you loved them on our stage, go and see what else they're doing! Michael Yaneff (Beadle in Sweeney Todd, Director for Crazy for You) and Jennie Garde (Olga in Nine) are featured in this hysterical french farce about the well-to-do Dupont family. The family is thrilled that their naïve young daughter has wed a wealthy count — until they learn that the marriage has yet to be consummated after more than a month. The show runs May 18-27 at Fairview Library Theatre.

Lindsay Bryan (Ensemble in The Music Man) is featured as Pam in this hilarious Norm Foster comedy. The show runs May 26 – June 10 at the Papermill Theatre.

Kristi Woods (choreographer for Evita, previously Spamalot) is part of an a Capella group called SoundCrowd. They just performed at Carnegie hall with a featured choir spot led by Deke Sharon (Pitch Perfect movies) and Kristi had a featured solo. SoundCrowd is having a concert on May 27 at the St. Michael School Centre for the Arts, 1515 Bathurst Street. Anyone interested in singing in a group like this should check it out. Or just to come hear some amazing music including all the songs from Carnegie hall (including the Canadian premiere of a song from In Transit that was just on Broadway).The choir is led by Scott Pietrangelo and choreography by Valerie Stanois. Jacqui Burke (Director for The King and I) directs and James Quigley (MD for The Addams Family) music directs this ode to sixties counterculture. The cast includes Terence Vince (MD for Wizard of Oz), Richard Kwong (The King in The King and I), Georgia Grant (Eve/Mama Noah in Children of Eden), Jan Harvey (Mrs. Blewett in Anne of Green Gables). The show runs June 9 – 11 at the Toronto Centre for the Arts

Meg Gibson (Roz in 9 to 5: The Musical) directs this twisty drama. The show runs June 30 – July 15, 2017 at the Scarborough Village Theatre.

Taylor Rodkin (Gracie Shinn in The Music Man) starts as Hope Cladwell and Nicole Burda (Amaryllis in The Music Man) is featured as Mr. Cladwell’s Secretary in this hilariously dark show. The show runs July 21-23 at The Papermill Theatre, 67 Pottery Road, Toronto.

Tamara Stokoe-Said (Lola in Damn Yankees, Anita in West Side Story) not only loves to dance onstage but she brings her moves to her fitness studio, The Move Studio in Newmarket. Tamara is a Zumba Education Specialist who travels all across Canada training Zumba instructors. She also teaches Zumba classes at the studio. So if you’d like to move like Lola check it out.

Michael Winn Johnson (Miles Gloriosus in Forum) hosts Reel School where he delves a little deeper into themes and motifs of recent cinema with a variety of videos including movie reviews, tutorials about film theory and history, Reel School Countdowns and Celebrity interviews. He has interviewed stars such as Bruce Campbell, William Shatner, Scott Bakula, Amy Acker, Amber Benson, and many more, and some of Reel School's tutorials have even been included in the curriculum at Baker University, the oldest University in Kansas.
